In the Hot Button Report, a green shirt designation is based on the number of buttons allocated to producers based on their work to eliminate the use of Ancient and Endangered Forests in their supply and to give preference to textiles made from innovative fibres ( see criteria ). A green shirt signals to the marketplace that these producers have met, or are on course to meet, the requirements of brands and retailers that are part of the CanopyStyle initiative . The inclusion of red in a producer’s shirt indicates risk of sourcing from high-carbon and biodiverse forests. This year, 54% of the global viscose supply is designated with green shirt status in the Hot Button Report. MMCF producers continue to use the CanopyStyle Audit to confirm their sourcing risk. The impetus to create low-impact Next Generation Solutions that utilize alternative fibres to produce new fabrics is also growing at an accelerated pace.
